Author's Note: King Akhenaten (Amenhotep IV) ruled Egypt from circa 1353-1336 B.C.E. with his wife Queen Nefertiti. They had six daughters and all but two died before adulthood, but Meritaten was one of the two who survived. Both King and Queen changed the course of history and the face of Egypt when they altered the religion to a strictly monotheistic realm and moved the entire capital city out of Thebes and Memphis. Akhenaten did have a secondary (or lesser) wife, Kiya, which bore him Tutankhamen (the boy king). His ruling administrators consisted of his Vizier Nakhte, the overseer of the courts Ahmose, and his chief of police Mahu. All other characters in this story were created for the enjoyment of the reader.
