Prologue
No one questioned her authority; no one had a choice. They either respected her as their leader or died trying to upset the balance she sought after. No one save one dared to challenge her and for years after their first encounter, he tormented her, plagued her mind...
Her name was Katarina, Kat as she was always called, and she had a born leadership within her. Like her father before her, she ruled Valhale with an iron fist. No one disagreed when she spoke and the people feared her. Her nickname among them had become Kat, not only because her father called her by that name, but because when in battle, she fought like a “cat”, always attacking the enemy from deep within the shadows.
And so we begin our tale, of a girl with a kindred spirit who becomes a beautiful Scandinavian woman, and the most skillful of Viking warriors. Her legend will live forever, of one who possessed the power to overcome fear, lead her people to many victories, and cause the one man who refused to let her have her way to be engulfed within the very same fire she harvested.
